Viewing, Filtering, Saving and Playing Back Events

Hestiaa's Events screen helps you review recorded event clips from your cameras, find specific events, save important clips and add notes for future reference.

Step 1: Open the Events screen

Open Hestiaa and navigate to Events.

The Events screen displays available event entries with information and controls to help you review them. You can switch between All Events and Saved to browse all available events or the events you have saved.

Step 2: Browse events

Use the event list to find the clip you want to review.

Event entries may display a preview, event information and other details. Event types are identified within the app; refer to the labels shown on your screen.

Tap an event to open its playback screen.

Step 3: Play back an event

On the playback screen, use the available controls to review the event.

  • Play and pause: Start or pause playback.
  • Seek: Move along the playback timeline to review a particular part of the clip.
  • Full screen: Expand the video view for easier viewing.

Use the playback timeline to navigate to the portion of the event you want to see.

Step 4: Filter and sort events

Use the available filtering and sorting options to narrow down the event list.

Filter by device

Choose the relevant camera or device to focus on events associated with it.

Filter by event type

Select an event type to narrow the list to matching events. The available types are shown in the app.

Sort events

Use the sorting options to change the order in which events appear. Review the selected sorting option before applying it.

When finished, apply your selections to view the updated list.

Step 5: Save an event

Save important events so you can find them more easily later.

  1. Locate the event you want to save.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu on the event.
  3. Select Save.
  4. Open the Saved tab on the Events screen to find your saved event.

Remove an event from Saved

If you no longer need an event in your Saved list:

  1. Open the Saved tab.
  2. Locate the event.
  3. Open its three-dot menu.
  4. Select the option to remove it from Saved, if displayed.

Removing an event from Saved should not be assumed to delete the original event unless the app explicitly indicates that it will.

Step 6: Add a note to an event

You can add and save a text note to help you remember why an event matters.

  1. Open the relevant event's menu.
  2. Select the note option.
  3. Enter your text in the note field.
  4. Save the note.

Use notes to record useful context for future reference.

Step 7: Understand event notifications

Hestiaa can use your phone's notification system to display event notifications.

The appearance and delivery of notifications may depend on your device's notification settings and the permissions granted to Hestiaa.

If notifications are not appearing, check that notifications for Hestiaa are enabled in your device settings.

Step 8: Access events when offline

Previously available events may remain accessible when your device is offline. However, new events are not available while offline.

Reconnect your device to the internet to access newly available events.

Troubleshooting

An event is missing from the list

  • Check whether you are viewing All Events or Saved.
  • Review the selected device and event-type filters.
  • Check the current sorting order.
  • If you are offline, remember that new events are unavailable until connectivity is restored.

A saved event is not appearing

Open the Saved tab and confirm that the event was saved using its three-dot menu.

Notifications are not appearing

Check your phone's notification settings and confirm that Hestiaa is allowed to send notifications.

Playback is not available

Check your connection and follow any message displayed in the app. Previously available events may remain accessible offline, but new events are unavailable while offline.
